Dear Parent,
(Take with you to the first meeting, or email to parent)
Welcome to our school! This letter is designed to help you get
started with curriculum choices, and to understand the aspects of our school
instructional funding, time-lines regarding orders with vendors, and ensure
that your student can start their schoolwork on either the first day of school,
or the day you sign the student agreement.
1)
As a new parent to our school, our school
instructional funding will be available for usage:
a. On
the first day of school if the Student Agreement has been signed at least a
week prior to that date.
b. Or,
the date the student is activated (from the date you sign the student
agreement, it can take a week or two for the funds to become available,
depending on the office backlog.)
We are happy to place orders for
new instructional materials for your student to check out, once our school
instructional funding is available. Please
keep in mind that the IEM office processing of orders at the beginning of the school
year can take a bit longer due to the workload.
Once the order has been placed, we are at the mercy of the business vendor
to fulfill the order in a timely fashion.
2) It
is suggested that you have other educational resources during the first month
of school. There are many free websites linked at our
school website that you can utilize while waiting for your curriculum orders:
·
http://www.ogcs.org/curriculum.html and then scroll down until you see: Free Internet Educational Websites

·
You can also:
ü
Check
out books at the library, take advantage of free educational activities in your
community, engage in PE activities, and/or watch educational TV programming.
ü
Visit
our Resource Room in Boulder Creek to check out available textbooks–(OGCS
students only)
3)
The school expectation is that students:
a. Begin instruction on the first day of
school, or on the date you signed the student agreement.
b. Until your curriculum orders arrive, you
are responsible for ensuring daily schoolwork is completed on each school day
on your attendance rollsheet for that learning period.
c. By utilizing the suggestions in #2 above, enough
daily schoolwork should be completed in time for your first learning record
meeting of the year.
d. The learning record meeting (within 20 days
or less), is when you will show all school work completed to justify attendance
with the state, and provide work samples.
