OGCS/SSCS ES Evaluation
Procedure
Definition:
The ES Evaluation is a compilation of information
received from the following sources: ESs, parents, ES Advisor, school staff,
and School Directors. A initial evaluation will be completed for first year
ESs. The ES Self-Evaluation and official ES evaluation will be completed by
late spring of each school year for all veteran ESs who have been with the
school for longer than 1 year. The ES may respond to the ES evaluation in
writing if he/she wishes by adding comments to the last page (or a separate
page). This statement will be placed in the personnel file along with the other
evaluation documentation.
Directions
for Self-Evaluation:
When filling out the ES Self-evaluation (when
indicated to do so in an ES Agenda), in order to maintain consistency in our
ratings, and for the advisors to rightly see how you think you are doing at
your ES job, please seriously consider and apply the following guidelines,
moving from low to high/left to right on your form:
Self-Evaluation
Scoring Rubric:
Low: This indicates we have a serious issue to
address, and you should already be in process of addressing it with your advisor
and an Employee Improvement Plan. The results are either not
yet able to be seen, or have not been sufficient and will result in discipline
if immediate improvements are not made.
Needs
Improvement: This denotes an area where you are not
yet up to speed with the job requirements, but you and your advisor have a plan
(may be a formal Employee Improvement Plan where you are working through the
steps to improve, or may be that you and your advisor are still in the talking
about what can be done for improvement stage) for your improvement. When writing your goals for the next school
year, be sure to address any area you mark as needs improvement with a goal.
Meets ES
Expectations: This means that you feel that you understand the ES job duty requirements
in this area, and have done all that is required according to the ES job
description. To receive this mark is not equivalent to "average", but
instead is a commendation for a job well done. This is our expectation for all
of our ESs in all areas.
High: This means that you believe you have consistently
gone above and beyond what is required in the job description in this area, and
have demonstrated skills and abilities that shine as an example to other ESs.
To receive this mark is to receive high praise and recognition for an
exceptional job in that specific area.
Directions:
1. Every year the ES
Evaluation deadline will be in the Paperwork Timetable and in the ES Agenda
prior to the due date.
2. First report on your ES
goal progress for the current school year, then reflect on your
Self-evaluation, and finally enter your next year’s goals into ES
Webfiles.
3. Mail/email your thoughtful
Self-evaluation using the above listed scoring rubric to your ES Advisor prior
to the deadline.
4. Before ES Checkout you
will receive your final ES Evaluation document in the mail from the training
office.
5. The yearly ES Evaluation
is to be signed and returned to the ES Support director prior to ES Checkout
each year. The ES Evaluation may be used to determine the maximum allowed ES
student load for the following school year. Only the final signature page and
any additional comments from the ES need to be returned to the office each year
by ES Checkout. Keep the rest for your file.
6. Contact your Advisor with
any questions.
ES Evaluation
Scoring Rubric:
Here is the interpretation of your final ES Evaluation:
Meets ES Expectations: This is
what is expected by the school of every ES for every area of the job
description. This means that you
understand the job requirements and you perform them consistently to the
satisfaction of your students/parents, your ES Advisor, your directors, and the
office staff. Well done! Take pride in your consistent efforts—they
are noted.
Needs Improvement: This
denotes an area where you are not yet up to speed with the job requirements,
but you and your advisor have a plan (may be a formal Employee Improvement Plan
where you are working through the steps to improve, or may be that you and your
advisor are still in the talking about what can be done for improvement stage)
for your improvement. Your goals for
next year should lead towards improvement in your low areas. We understand this
job has a steep learning curve, and we value your commitment towards
improvement. We do expect that there
will be improvement in this area on the next year’s evaluation. (Note:
if you received a needs improvement and you are not working with your advisor,
contact them immediately for clarification.)
Consistently Superior: This rating indicates an
area where you as an ES consistently go over and above the expected requirement
in that area. This is where you shine
and show your exceptional support for our school! Celebrate!
Thanks for your extra efforts!
Does Not Meet Standards: Do not ignore a section
that receives this rating. This
indicates we have a serious issue to address, and you should already be in
process of addressing it with your advisor and an Employee Improvement Plan. Look
at what you can do immediately to address this (voluntarily reduce your student
load in order to focus on the issue at hand; go back through the trainings in
this area very carefully; etc). We must have some
change occur to correct this situation immediately.
